BTN Episode 3: What I (err we) learned from it

Honestly speaking I'm way tooo lazy to write the history of Malaysia and "kontrak sosial" (social contract), so I just leave the explanation to Pushie :P haha

p.s: her post is in Malay, I don't think any non-Malaysians is interested about this particular issue, but if you want the translation we (erm me) will be delighted to translate it for you XD

The day has come....T_T

Finally the day has come and I can't run away from it. Tomorrow will be a "dead" day for me. The Dean has asked all the tutors who are not on study leave to meet him.

I haven't done what he told me to do- to continue my Masters locally at UPM this Dec, as I still wish to continue my study overseas. I have prepared all the reasons why I want to do my graduate school overseas, just hope he listens to me.

Oh btw, my new Dean is famous for his dictatorship T_T so I have to be prepared if he rejects my idea *bismillah*

This video has nothing to do with my dean, but don't you just love this song XD. I love EXILE, they have superb voice (ok tak tahu maksud lagu ni, cuma tahu dua je..kanji tu tak tahu kanji ape). oh sejak bila ada mamat hensem dalam kumpulan ni, dulu takde pun yg hensem haha -kejam gile-

BTN Episode 2: Hati Malaya

I have to confess, I always dozed off during the ceramah (talks) session at BTN. I was able to understand only 60% of the talks, and mainly because the information was repeated over and over again.

I am not an auditory learner thus explains why I was at dreamland during the session. I learn through seeing things; diagrams, charts, movies, colors- avid visual learner.

In all of the talks, I think the one that gave the biggest impact was when we had to watch a historical movie- 1957: Hati Malaya

The movie, directed by Shuhaimi Baba, was set on two different eras- the present and the past. It all started with the fall of Japanese colonization in Malaya and British took over the reign. British tried to take control of Malaya by forming Malayan Union, and it was opposed by Onn Jaafar - the founder of UMNO.

The story progressed with the collaboration of UMNO-MCA-MIC - three parties of the Major races in Malaysia; Malay, Chinese and Indian, to gain independence. I shed my tears when these three parties won the favor of all the races in Malaya, showing that we can fight and win if we work together.

The actors and actresses were great, the dialogues were okay too except for one cheesy line when Maya Karin said to Rusdi Ramli "Kau masih mahu aku" (do you still want me - seriously it is really cheesy when you say this in Malay haha)

Too bad this movie can only be watched if you attend BTN. I really wish it was made available everywhere. But you can try finding it online, and please download *oops* and watch it. It is reallyyyy good XD

p.s: Malaysia was once called Malaya which means the land of Malays (Tanah Melayu) because the native people is Malay. The name was changed when Malaya gained independence, and Sabah, Sarawak (two states located at Borneo) and Malaya formed to become Malaysia.

BTN Episode 1: My feeling towards it

Just came back from BTN camp, and I'm surprised that I actually like it. Everything was nice: the camp, the food, and even the module. I've learned lots of things which is impossible to say in one post.

Overall, there is no political or racism issue been brought up in this BTN, I guess it all depends on the module and the facilitators. I believe that everyone should attend this particular BTN (BTN for Master/PhD/Specialist who will study overseas) especially those who just came back from overseas so they can adapt to Malaysian environment, and love Malaysia even more.

I do feel I've become more patriotic since I came back from BTN -I wonder how long this will last haha-

Have I been brainwashing during the camp?hmm.. maybe not, but my view has change a little bit. Trust me, I still hate politic!! and I'm neutral- I do not support gov or opposition. But, I want to change myself a little bit. Instead of being an ignorant Malaysian- reluctant to know the politic in my own country because its really depressing, I want to know a little bit about it so that I can become more informative, and I will be able to answer any question relating to current issues in Malaysia.

Yes this camp has changed me a little bit. I'm proud of being a Malaysian, and I want to become more informative about my own country. One thing that I want to change- read the Malaysian newspaper EVERYDAY. haha, yes I have to admit its rare for me reading the local newspaper, in fact I get the local news mostly from my family, friends or radio. Its not something to be proud of, but I do want to change my habit T_T

p.s: BTN stands for "Biro Tatanegara." A type of camp that infuses patriotism to Malaysians. I have to attend this camp because it is one of the requirements for me to get scholarship from Ministry of Higher Eduation of Malaysia (MOHE).

New Rival

Oh man I think I have a new rival in my family. Looks like my second sister is not my "worst" enemy anymore. Abang Yadi, my brother in-law, has stolen that position from her.

Ever since he's married to my sister, all attention has been given to him. My mom cooks delicious food when he's coming to visit, my sis treats him like a king, and my relatives are crawling all over him.

my new arch nemesis

Am I jealous? haha a little bit, just this part-----> "My mom cooks delicious food when he's coming to visit." Not fair!!! haha and remembered I had to order pizza just because there's no food when I was at home.

Well, my mom sure is happy that there's finally another male in the family besides my dad. Me too, but I feel the attention that everyone is given to him is too much.

Do not spoil him guys!! You don't want him to end up like our father!! all spoilt up and ends up not knowing (and forgot) how to do dishes, cook, and even clean the house!! hahaha

p.s: Don't take me wrong, this is not one of those emotional posts. I just post it for fun, and I want to tease my sister :P. However, the fact that I'm not special anymorel is true *sigh* haha

Eid-adha Mubarak

Happy Eid-Adha guys~ I will go back to my grandma's house after the eid prayer. Tomorrow will be a looooong day. I have to make sure that my father is entertained during the 6 hours drive. Don't want him to fall asleep during the trip haha

This monsoon season is a bummer, I have the feeling that I wont be able to enjoy an evening walk along the paddy field. Don't want the yucky blood sucker slugs and leeches crawling all over my legs @_@

Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving guys!!! I miss eating Thanksgiving Dinner and burned the extra calories with midnight shopping during Black Firday. ahhh the good old days~ hahaha
